US banking and lending rules, enforced on everything AI says.
The CFPB rulebook and your own policies. One verdict on every customer message, before it ships.

What This Area Covers
Consumer banking and lending in the US is regulated by the CFPB, the prudential regulators (OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC), and state agencies. The core federal rules sit in Dodd-Frank and a set of implementing regulations: Reg Z for credit, Reg B for fair lending, Reg DD for deposits, Reg F for collections. Most of them say something specific about what a bank or lender may tell a customer.
Three requirements do most of the work. Nothing unfair, deceptive, or abusive: a product cannot be described in a way that misleads a reasonable consumer. Rate and fee claims have to include the required terms, stated in the required way (APR for credit, APY for deposits). No message may discourage or treat an applicant differently on a prohibited basis. Collections add rules about when, how often, and how a consumer can be contacted. A chatbot or drafting assistant is held to all of it.
